Microplastics:
What are Microplastics?
Microplastics are small pieces of plastic that end up in our marine and coastal environments as a consequence of plastic pollution. Microplastic particles can now be found across all environments, ecosystems, habitats, and food webs on Earth. When ingested by coastal and marine species they can have negative impacts due to toxic and mechanical effects and result for example in feeding difficulties, behavioural changes or suffocation. You can learn more about the causes, impacts, and solutions to microplastic pollution in the below resources!
